[UBS: Probability of Bank of England Rate Hike Decreases, But Cannot Be Ruled Out]
Jin10 News, July 23 – Economists at UBS Investment Bank stated in a report that the likelihood of the Bank of England raising interest rates in the coming months has decreased. These economists noted that sluggish economic growth in the UK and a weak labor market have reduced the necessity for the Bank of England to raise rates.
'The Bank of England can address the risk of second-round effects by maintaining rates at their current restrictive levels for a longer period, without the need for further hikes.'
However, they also mentioned that, given rising oil prices and the inclination of some Bank of England members toward rate hikes, the possibility of a rate increase cannot be ruled out.
