[Report: Crypto Industry Contributes $55 Billion to U.S. Economy, Directly Employs 34,000 People] BlockBeats News, July 23: The National Cryptocurrency Association of the United States released a report stating that the U.S. crypto industry directly employs 34,000 people. When including jobs supported by supplier industries and consumption by related workers, the total employment figure is approximately 232,000. The report estimates that by 2026, the industry will contribute over $55 billion to U.S. GDP, with about $31 billion flowing to workers in the form of labor income. Among the 232,000 supported jobs, approximately 75,000 come from supplier industries, while another 123,000 are driven by household consumption of related workers. These figures are based on the multiplier effect of input-output models and do not represent the number of employees directly hired by crypto companies. Of the 34,000 direct jobs, software, blockchain, and data engineering roles account for the largest share, approximately 10,100 positions. In terms of regional distribution, California and New York support 57,649 and 53,766 jobs, respectively, totaling over 111,000. Texas accounts for approximately 26,536 jobs. The 12 U.S. heartland states defined in the report collectively support about 17,000 jobs. The report was commissioned and funded by the National Cryptocurrency Association, with analysis conducted by the Pragmatic Policy Group. The estimates are based on the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis' 2024 input-output tables and $23.22 billion in crypto industry revenue data. The occupational structure and industry mapping include model assumptions.
