Afraid of higher hockey stick and wine prices? That's not the problem. Trump just put a 50% tariff on Canadian cement, along with wine, hockey sticks, dairy, and more. The real problem is cement. Canada supplies 22% of all U.S. cement imports, the second-largest source after Turkey. In border states like NY and WA, a third or more of the cement in the ground comes from Canada. The U.S. doesn't produce enough domestically to cover it. You can swap out a bottle of wine. You can't swap out the material every building, road, and bridge is made of. This is the tariff that shows up in construction bids and housing costs, not a liquor aisle.(Lark Davis)
