This forum marks the first government-hosted and organized stablecoin legislative forum.
The South Korean government and the ruling Democratic Party plan to push for the bill's passage within this year. In the economic growth strategy for 2026 released on July 14, authorities stated their intention to advance the legislation of the 'Basic Act on Digital Assets' in the second half of the year, segment the digital asset industry, establish a regulatory framework for business conduct, and lay the legal foundation for the standardization of stablecoin regulation.
