[Record Labels Push for AI Music 'Tagging,' Streaming Platforms May Face New Rules]
According to a report by Jinse Finance, as the music industry strives to adapt to the changes brought by AI, an alliance composed of record labels and artist groups is urging major streaming platforms to add labels to AI-generated music. The alliance plans to collaborate with streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to indicate whether AI technology was used in the music production process. Currently, the use of AI is primarily labeled by artists, record labels, and distributors themselves.
Led by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), the alliance has proposed two distinct labels for AI-related content. One label would identify tracks entirely generated by AI based on prompts, or tracks where the lead vocals or key instrumental parts were generated by AI. The other label would mark "AI-assisted" tracks, which are primarily human-created works but incorporate AI technology in certain elements. (Jin10)
