Bitcoin Pharaoh's wife rejected for release in Brazil: application for vegetarian diet not met with no results
Odaily Planet Daily News: The Brazilian Supreme Court (STJ) has rejected the release application of Mirelis Yoseline Diaz Zerpa, a Venezuelan woman who is the wife of "Bitcoin Pharaoh" Gladson Ac á cio dos Santos and is currently being held in preventive detention. Their legal team has filed a request for a personal protection order, citing reasons such as the prison's failure to meet their "vegan diet" needs. However, the court believes that the dietary deviation does not constitute a basis for illegal detention, and relevant adjustments can be handled at the administrative level by the prison system. The judge in charge of the case, Maria Marluce Caldas, pointed out that dietary restrictions based on personal choices do not have the legal effect to overturn the legality of detention. Therefore, the original ruling is upheld and the prison is required to make reasonable dietary arrangements as much as possible under conditions. According to the case materials, Mirelis fled to the United States for nearly four years before being deported back to Brazil and arrested due to visa issues. The prosecution accuses him of involvement in criminal organization leadership and large-scale cryptocurrency transfer activities, which are related to investigations such as "Operation Kryptos". The Brazilian Federal Prosecutor's Office (MPF) stated that during the investigation, it discovered approximately 20 million Brazilian reals worth of cryptocurrency assets flowing and traced their related account operation records in Florida, USA. It is believed that they still have the ability to remotely manipulate funds and pose a high level of judicial risk. The case is still under further trial.
