The USA is responsible for nearly 45% of all pharmaceutical drug innovation worldwide, most of the funding coming from American taxpayers. Yet we pay 3x more for pharma drugs than Germany and the rest of Europe. Germany doesn't fund R&D, but then they force pharma companies to sell drugs cheaply in Germany. They are freeloading on the USA, just like they do on defense spending. Americans pay higher pharma prices because of Germany's tactics. It is time for the Trump Admin to use Section 301 tariff authority to hold Germany accountable on this pharma pricing abuse.
