[During Iran's Internet Shutdown, Citizens Use Decentralized Technology to Communicate with the Outside World] Since the large-scale internet shutdown in Iran began in early January this year, some citizens have been using decentralized technology to maintain communication with the outside world. Tools such as Sentinel's decentralized virtual private network (dVPN), OpenVPN, Shadowsocks, and V2Ray have been utilized by individuals like Darius to bypass communication blockades and send messages during brief windows of internet connectivity. The Iranian government has enforced strict internet shutdowns to suppress protests and limit international exposure, but decentralized networks and tools like the Starlink satellite network have become critical communication channels for citizens. During the shutdown, Iran's economy suffered severe damage, and people's lives were plunged into hardship.
