Robinhood Chain is soaring
Robinhood Chain is experiencing unprecedented growth.
Just two months after launch, daily revenue has already exceeded 4 million dollars. This is roughly twice that of Hyperliquid and 5 to 6 times that of Tron and Solana. This means it has surpassed projects that are completely diluted to valuations in the hundreds of billions and even accounts for two-thirds of the total revenue of all Ethereum Layer 2s.
However, if you look back along its explosive growth trajectory, something feels off.
This is not the growth script we are familiar with from public chains.
Robinhood Chain turns the script upside down
Most blockchain networks we have seen in the past have almost identical growth paths:
First, base DeFi such as DEXs and lending markets; then flagship NFT projects; followed by ecosystem support programs and hackathons to introduce a batch of non-financial native projects, thickening and diversifying the ecosystem.
Subsequently, retail-driven speculative projects—mainly meme coins—begin to take off. When the ecosystem growth hits a ceiling, it shifts towards RWA and institutional DeFi, searching for the next wave of increments.
Robinhood does it almost completely backward.
Its core positioning is the stock token ecosystem. The official website states it clearly. On the first day of launch, Robinhood Chain already supported the issuance of stock tokens while integrating basic DeFi protocols like Uniswap and Morpho.
The early stage was relatively quiet. What truly ignited growth was meme coins.
Interestingly, it’s not about CashCat.
CashCat did indeed attract attention initially, but it did not break free from the meme coin tropes that other ecosystems have already played out.
Traditionally, meme coins on other chains are paired with native assets like ETH and SOL. Robinhood Chain changed this rule. Starting with LONG, launchpads like Pons (@ponsdotfamily) began allowing meme coins to be directly paired with stock tokens for issuance.
Meme coins and stock tokens. Two completely different types of assets suddenly thrown into the same market.
This gameplay took off instantly. Pons once exceeded daily earnings from Hyperliquid and Pump.fun, with token prices soaring and gaining even more attention.
New gameplay also emerged, such as airdropping stock tokens simply for holding certain meme coins.
The ecosystem exploded completely.
Robinhood is able to completely flip the traditional public chain script for several key reasons:
Stock tokens were available from day one. Traditional public chains typically put RWA at the end, a practical reason being that RWA has only truly become a mainstream track in recent years. Robinhood Chain launched later but supported stock tokens from day one, thus making stock tokens the foundation for ecosystem growth rather than something added at the end.
The Robinhood brand. Robinhood is a traditional financial company but has always been closely tied to retail and degen culture. Events like GameStop, options trading, cryptocurrency, meme stocks—Robinhood has been central to several major retail speculation waves in the past years in the U.S. Therefore, pairing stock tokens with meme coins feels more natural than it looks. Meme stocks are an off-chain phenomenon, and on Robinhood Chain, the same culture reappears in the form of "meme coins paired with stock tokens."
Users and liquidity are already there. Most new chains start from scratch: first attracting developers, issuing subsidies, then trying to lure users in. Robinhood is different. It already has tens of millions of users, stocks are familiar assets for users, and there’s the massive distribution channel of Robinhood. On other chains, applications need to bring their own users; on Robinhood Chain, applications can follow the users and assets that are already present.
Directly reusing existing infrastructure. Robinhood doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. Verified DeFi protocols like Uniswap and Morpho already exist, and developers can directly use existing EVM tool chains. The foundational layers that other chains took years to build are immediately available on Robinhood.
Robinhood Chain is forging a growth trajectory we have rarely seen before.
Currently, meme coins have brought a large amount of liquidity onto the chain.
The next thing to watch is how long this meme frenzy can last.
If the frenzy eventually fades, what is truly worth observing is whether Robinhood Chain can solidify this liquidity and allow truly useful native projects to grow out of the ecosystem.
