The world's second-largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, Bybit, announced today that it has officially obtained a virtual asset platform operator license issued by the UAE Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA). Bybit becomes the first cryptocurrency exchange to receive this full license from the SCA, marking a historic milestone in the country's vision to become a global digital asset hub. This license allows Bybit to compliantly introduce its existing global products and services to the market.

With the assistance of the Abu Dhabi Blockchain Center, Bybit initially received the SCA's principle approval in February 2025 to comply with the SCA's robust regulatory framework. The acquisition of the full license reflects the regulator's trust in Bybit's strong security infrastructure, operational transparency, and stringent compliance standards.
This achievement follows a series of regulatory milestones Bybit achieved in 2025, including obtaining the MiCAR license in May and fully resuming trading operations in India in September. The exchange continues to expand its influence in key global markets with a compliance-first roadmap.

Under the SCA's virtual asset platform operator license, Bybit will offer regulated virtual asset trading, brokerage, custody, and fiat exchange services to retail and institutional clients within the UAE.
The exchange plans to expand its local footprint by establishing a larger regional operations center in Abu Dhabi, employing over 500 staff in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, accelerating local hiring in compliance, operations, and customer service, and collaborating with local partners to launch new educational and Web3 innovation programs.
