The long wait is over! On September 29, 2025, Anoma announced that its native token $XAN has officially launched, and the Anoma mainnet release has officially begun.

With today's release, the Anoma ecosystem introduces the native token $XAN and governance system, which is now live on the Ethereum mainnet.

As the coordination mechanism of the Anoma ecosystem, $XAN will power existing Web3 networks, real-world applications, and Anoma native application instances. As the first phase of mainnet functionality launch, $XAN and the Anoma governance mechanism will enable the community to coordinate all future mainnet upgrades.

Anoma Governance Mechanism Explanation

The initial version of the Anoma governance system launched today allows $XAN holders to lock their tokens to vote on protocol upgrade proposals.

The system has two governance entities that can initiate upgrade proposals:

• The "voting community" composed of token holders
• The governance committee

These two entities balance each other: when the voting community fails to reach a quorum, the governance committee can initiate upgrade proposals; however, proposals initiated by the committee can be vetoed by the voting community. This creates a check-and-balance mechanism to prevent unilateral actions by either party.

The voting weight of token holders is proportional to the number of tokens they choose to lock, ensuring that participants align with the long-term development of the protocol. Tokens locked for voting will be allowed to unlock after the proposal takes effect. Like the Anoma mainnet as a whole, Anoma's governance system will evolve over time, gradually adding more features for the ecosystem and community.

Anoma Portal: The Super Entrance to the Anoma Ecosystem

Anoma Portal is a native Anoma application that serves as the gateway for users to access the Anoma ecosystem and various core protocol features. Starting today, users can use the Anoma Portal to view and manage their $XAN balance and participate in governance.

This release is the v1 version of the Anoma Portal. As the mainnet continues to upgrade, the Portal will continuously add new features.
