From October 22nd to 24th, the first Ethereum Hong Kong Summit "ETH Hong Kong 2023" jointly organized by the Ethereum native zkEVM scaling solution Scroll and the Web3 technology venture capital company Newman Group was successfully held at Cyberport. PANews, ABCDE, and 852Web3 participated as members of the organizing committee. The event attracted 2500 participants over three days, with over half of them coming from international locations, making a profound impact on the development of the Web3 community.

The event featured over 120 well-known speakers, including Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake, Cyberport Investor Network (CIN) Steering Committee Chairman Hendrick Sin, Hong Kong Legislative Council member Charles Mok, Director of Fintech at InvestHK King Leung, and Scroll co-founder Sandy Peng. They shared their insights on hot topics such as Web3, regulation, Layer2, and ZK (zero-knowledge proof).

Meanwhile, the innovation hackathon co-hosted by the Ethereum native zkEVM scaling solution Scroll and BeWater attracted around 250 hackers who submitted 84 creative projects. The top three in the on-chain innovation category were RingSig, Lazyotter, and Communities ID, while the top three in the student innovation category were Kaviar, Competition Protocol, and Verimint. This not only demonstrated enhanced creativity within the community but also reinforced the commitment to building a Web3 developer community and providing a platform for nurturing future innovation.

In addition, the event received active participation from Scroll, Tencent Cloud, DODO, Accseal, and 20 other pioneering Web3 projects, creating a dynamic space full of collaborative potential.

Overall, the successful conclusion of ETH Hong Kong 2023 marks the arrival of a new era of Web3 technology in Hong Kong, consolidating its position as a thriving innovation hub and showcasing the power and development potential of collaboration, innovation, and community building in the Web3 ecosystem.
