Pendle announced on February 5 that the sPENDLE buyback mechanism will officially launch on February 9, with the first batch of sPENDLE earnings to be distributed on February 13. Rewards will be calculated based on time-weighted metrics, starting from January 29, 2026, 00:00 UTC, including previously undistributed portions related to Pendle transaction fees.
- Bithumb Recovers 620,000 BTC Mistakenly Airdropped to Users
On February 6, during the distribution of activity rewards, Bithumb mistakenly airdropped a large amount of Bitcoin to some customers due to an input error in the number of Bitcoins. Within 35 minutes of the erroneous payment, Bithumb restricted transactions and withdrawals for 695 customers, recovering over 99% of the mistakenly paid amount. The total erroneous transfer amounted to 620,000 BTC (accounting for 2.95% of the total BTC), with 618,212 BTC (approximately 99.7% of the total) recovered, and 1,788 BTC worth of assets (in Korean won and other virtual assets) sold by users also recovered 93%.
As of February 7, 2026, 22:42:52, users' Bitcoin (BTC) assets have achieved over 100% asset consistency. Bithumb stated that approximately 99.7% of the mistakenly issued Bitcoin was recovered on the day of the incident, and the remaining 0.3% (1,788 BTC) that had been sold has been compensated by the company's own assets to ensure that user assets are unaffected.
The platform also announced that starting from February 8, it will gradually launch user compensation measures, including providing 20,000 Korean won compensation to online users during the incident, returning the price difference to users who sold at a low price and additionally paying a 10% consolation fee, as well as offering a 0% trading fee discount for all varieties for 7 days starting from February 9.
- Axie Infinity Plans to Launch New Token bAXS and Conduct Two Rounds of Airdrops
On February 3, Axie Infinity announced that AXS will become the reserve currency for the new application token Bonded AXS (bAXS). bAXS, as an ERC20-C token, has the same utility functions as AXS, including use for Axie evolution, breeding, forging items in App.axie, and staking.
The project will conduct two rounds of bAXS airdrops targeting AXS stakers and based on Axie Score. The first round of airdrop pool is 100,000 bAXS, with a snapshot time of February 5, 00:01 UTC, and eligibility for wallets that stake at least 10 AXS. Details for the second round of airdrop are to be determined, and bAXS obtained from the first round of airdrop will increase the weight for the second round of airdrop.
