American company Critical Metals Corp CRML recently acquired 92.5% control of the Tanbreez rare earth metals project in Greenland. This is one of the largest and highest grade rare earth metals deposits on the planet. Currently the USA imports 80% of it's rare earth metals from China. The deposit is uniquely rich in heavy rare earths (HREEs) used in EVs, wind turbines, and defense. It is viewed as a key asset for North American and European supply chains. The project has been subject to U.S. lobbying to ensure it remains a non-Chinese controlled supply source.(Wall Street Mav)
