In a joint operation conducted in Switzerland, law enforcement seized over $27 million (€25 million) worth of Bitcoin and 12 TB of data. Supported by Europol and Eurojust, German and Swiss law enforcement carried out the takedown operation in Zurich last week, seizing three servers and the domain name cryptomixer.io. According to a Europol press release, the service operated on both the clear web and the dark web. After shutting down the service, law enforcement placed a seizure banner on its website. Relevant agencies stated that Cryptomixer provided money laundering channels by obstructing blockchain fund tracing, enabling ransomware groups, underground forums, and dark web markets to launder illicit proceeds from drug trafficking, arms dealing, ransomware attacks, and payment card fraud.
