[Argentina Joins OECD Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework, Will Share User Transaction Data by 2029] According to a report by Bitcoin.com, Argentina has agreed to implement the Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework (CARF) developed by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), joining the ranks of 77 global jurisdictions. The country plans to automatically exchange crypto transaction data by 2029. Argentina will share data with international regulatory bodies, including user identity information, fiat currency purchases and sales of crypto assets, digital asset exchanges, digital asset payments, and transactions with external addresses. It will also receive information related to overseas transactions. This move aims to combat tax evasion associated with crypto assets and achieve regulatory parity between crypto and fiat transactions. Argentina is required to establish domestic regulations by 2028, mandating Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs) to report relevant data to tax authorities.
