The stronger AI is, the more valuable blockchain becomes.

"What do you think about how AI can combine with blockchain? Apart from financial speculation, what is the use of other so-called traceability? Either a consortium chain is sufficient, or what other use does a cryptocurrency-bearing blockchain have? How can it grow big if it’s only about finance? How can ordinary people get involved?"

I have always believed that AI and blockchain will definitely spark interest, and that these two technologies will display a strong interdependence, correlation, and complementarity at some point in the future.

I have shared the reasons for this in previous articles:

The essential attributes of these two technologies are completely opposite and entirely heterogeneous; one’s ideal is towards centralization, while the other’s ideal is towards decentralization; one relies on centralized trust to achieve efficiency; the other sacrifices efficiency to achieve decentralization.

This resembles the ancient Chinese cultural notion of mutual generation and mutual restraint; both water and fire can be harmonized, yet they are also in conflict.

For the utmost efficiency of AI, many people can understand it right away, and they readily submit to the efficiency and pressure it exhibits.

I fully understand this feeling because it is human nature—people easily display inferiority and blind faith towards centralized power and strength.

In this context, the decentralized platform of blockchain becomes particularly valuable, able to safeguard the ultimate bottom line and set the final barriers.

So logically, these two must combine.

This is purely from my intuitive feelings and beliefs regarding logic.

However, I am still observing and exploring what form their combination will take, what paths and business models will emerge.

In recent years, there have been many applications combining AI and crypto, and I have shared quite a few in my past articles. But up to now, despite many applications achieving a certain level of implementation and generating real cash flow, frankly speaking, their scale is still too small, and their impact is very limited. At least right now, it is hard to see which future will grow into a towering tree, becoming the actual explosion point.

But I remain very optimistic about this track because I am looking at the future. So I will continue to have patience with this track and wait.

The comments mention financial speculation; I am not sure what exactly "financial speculation" refers to?

I have been paying attention to a small track of "financial speculation"—instilling various technical indicators and operational methods into AI agents to enable them to achieve fully automated quantitative trading.

This track was recently endowed with high expectations and attracted several venture capital investments.

However, I haven’t seen much information on this front since then. I have not seen any AI agents or newly formed funds operating primarily with AI agents achieving performances that exceed traditional quantitative funds.

On the contrary, the significant drawdown of a quantitative fund recently made me feel that, at least for now, using AI technology for quantitative trading is not as magical as people imagine.

Regarding consortium chains, I have always believed that they are not true blockchains.

All the issues that consortium chains can solve could have been addressed with traditional distributed technologies that existed before blockchain.

I believe the role of blockchain is not limited to finance, but also encompasses many applications that are based on strong trust.

As for how ordinary people can participate in the crypto ecosystem, I used to strongly recommend that ordinary people, including our readers, get involved in the crypto ecosystem (for example, through investment), because the capital threshold for participating in crypto investments is almost infinitely low, which is something no other investment ecosystem offers.

However, I no longer view it this way, as although the capital threshold for investing in the crypto ecosystem is very low, the cognitive threshold is extremely high, even far exceeding that of other investment ecosystems.

In this ecosystem, based on my current observations, the vast majority of retail investors are still losing money, just like in any other investment field.

In the crypto ecosystem, if cognitive understanding does not improve, a low capital threshold will not become an advantage; rather, it will become a disadvantage for retail investors, making it easier for them to lose money. Therefore, it is essential to have a clear understanding and assessment of one’s own cognition before cautiously participating with a thoughtful allocation approach.
