In the Crypto industry, known as the "dark forest," ZachXBT has long been seen as the lone light capable of illuminating the shadows. This anonymous on-chain detective resembles the Batman of Gotham City, who only operates at night, nailing countless Rug Pull project teams to the pillar of shame.
However, last night, his comments regarding the LAB token, coupled with the strong accusations that erupted in the Chinese community, once again pushed this top detective to the crossroads of public opinion. This incident is not just a discussion about the rise and fall of a token; it is a concentrated representation of the complex tension between "personal heroism" and "community interests" in the Web3 industry.
From "Anti-Rug" to "Accused of Rug"
On the evening of May 7, ZachXBT joined forces with Specter to drop a bombshell, directly pointing the finger at LAB’s founder vsadkovv and his team.
The investigation revealed that the team, through a highly concentrated token holding, frequently staged "pump and dump" schemes on the CEX, similar to RAVE, SIREN, and RIVER. Meanwhile, ZachXBT publicly announced a reward of $10,000 for evidence of market manipulation, covering insider information from liquidity providers on Bitget spot, Bybit perpetual contracts, Binance perpetual contracts, and OKX perpetual contracts, including contracts, chat logs, etc., as well as any clues that could confirm the real identity of LAB’s founder vsadkovv.
In addition, ZachXBT went directly to the Bitget CEO's comment section, reiterating the previous RAVE incident, stating that "the community has yet to receive any updates on the RAVE investigation, while LAB is now running another market manipulation scheme through Bitget's spot market."
As a result, LAB plummeted over 25% in a short time. However, while the Western community largely praised him for exposing LAB's chaos, the Chinese community erupted with a completely different voice.
In summary, a large amount of skepticism focused on: ZachXBT's inappropriate handling of various Memecoin airdrops and suspicions that he utilized his identity as a "chain detective" to short the market for profit through "advance disclosures." Additionally, some questioned his "double standards," believing there was a significant difference in his attitude toward different projects. The community expressed concern that he had been corrupted by money, transforming from "the shield of the community" into "the enforcer of capital."
However, it is noteworthy that these blasting accusations also show obvious signs of "mechanical replication." Many tweet contents were identical, simply copy-pasting, with one even carrying the "paid partnership" tag introduced by platform X to prevent "coordinated deceptive behavior."
Perhaps the concentrated questioning from the Chinese community led to unexpected buying pressure, or maybe the project team took the initiative to defend the price amid the controversy, as LAB remarkably surged back to its original point after experiencing a decline. In response, ZachXBT offered only a cold suggestion: "Don't trade tokens like this." As for the community's insults, he stated, "I'm already used to it."
