This is the most valuable joint incentive event in the Base ecosystem this year.

Today, City Protocol officially launched the Base Discovery event on the Base App. This is not a small project running its own task event, but a large incentive initiative funded by over 10 Base ecosystem projects, and it has received direct support from Base.

As everyone knows, Base does not just allow anyone to stand on its platform.

First, take a look at the participating lineup: Brett, Upshot, City Protocol, Anichess, Heurist, Axis, O1 Exchange, AWE Network, OmenX, Billions, Coinhero. These are all projects with actual products running in the Base ecosystem, not the pop-up acts often seen in the past two years.

Why should you participate now? The window period is only 14 days, and the number of participants is still low. The advantage of entering early goes without saying.

1. What is the reward mechanism? Understanding this is the most important point.

The core design of this event is a total reward pool + each project's independent Bonus dual structure.

The most important thing to clarify is: As long as you complete any Booth task for a project, you are eligible to participate in the distribution of the total reward pool. Yes, even if you only completed one project's task, you have already entered the total pool.

This total reward pool is co-funded by Base and all 10+ participating projects, which shows its value. Of course, the more projects you complete, the larger your share in the total pool. So the optimal strategy is to do as many as you can, but the threshold is really low; doing one is enough to participate.

In addition to the total reward pool, each project has its own independent Bonus. These are additional rewards on top of the total pool, meaning that by completing a project's task, you receive two portions: the share from the total pool + the project’s Bonus.

For example, the project Bonuses are approximately as follows: Brett has put up $1,000 in BRETT tokens (Top 300 can share), City Protocol has directly put in $5,000 of future CP tokens, Anichess released $5,000 in CHECK tokens, Heurist has prepared $300 HEU for 10 lucky users, Upshot is giving away 50 Packs + 5,000 XP, Billions offers up to 1,000 in Power Bonus, and Coinhero conducts $50 Pack draws. Axis, O1 Exchange, AWE Network, and OmenX also have their own Mindshare reward mechanisms.

In simple terms, more than a dozen projects are pooling funds to get you to participate, and Base is backing them up. This kind of lineup is indeed a first in the Base ecosystem.

2. Why is this timing very delicate?

If you have been paying attention to the Base ecosystem, you should know that the whole market is waiting for one thing: When will the Base token actually arrive?

In September 2025, the leadership of Base publicly stated that they are exploring the launch of a network token. This is a significant attitude shift, as before, Coinbase's stance had always been "we will not issue tokens." Although the team has not provided a specific timetable, the market generally expects the token issuance to occur between Q2 and Q4 of 2026.

JPMorgan's research team believes that the Base token could potentially bring up to $34 billion in equity value uplift to Coinbase. This is not a small number and shows how seriously Wall Street is taking the Base token expectations.

What does this mean? It means that accumulating on-chain activity records and community contributions in the Base ecosystem right now could directly affect whether you will benefit from the dividends of the Base token in the future. Base Discovery offers such a low-threshold, high-exposure participation entry. Every task you complete, every project you follow, every post you make leaves traces in your on-chain record.

3. Step-by-step guide on how to participate

Alright, the next part is the most important. I will write as detailed as possible to ensure you can follow along.

Step 1: Enter the event page

Open your Base App (mobile version), then directly visit the Viral City event page:

If you haven’t downloaded the Base App yet, go to the app store and search for "Base" to download. The registration process is simple; you can log in with your email or Coinbase account. Once inside, you will see the main interface of the Base App, with a navigation bar at the bottom.

After entering Viral City, find the City Rewards section, and you will see the entry for the Base Discovery event, click in.

Step 2: Understand the structure of the event's main page

After entering Base Discovery, you will see all the participating projects' Booths. Each project has its own Booth, which contains specific tasks set by that project. You can also see the event countdown and your current points/ranking status on the page.

You can think of each Booth as a "stall" for a project, just go in and complete the tasks.

Step 3: Choose a project Booth and complete tasks

Click on any project Booth to enter, where the specific tasks required by that project will be listed. The tasks will vary by project, but generally include the following two types:

Follow tasks: For instance, following the project's account on the Base App. This is the simplest one; just a click to complete.

Interaction tasks: For instance, liking, commenting, or sharing a particular post of the project. Some projects may require you to post an original post about them on the Base App, including specific topic tags.

Every task completion will have a clear status prompt, informing you whether you have succeeded or not. It is recommended to check the status after completing each task to ensure it has been recorded.

Step 4: Do as much as possible; finishing everything is the best solution

I mentioned earlier that completing any Booth task can gain you entry into the total reward pool. However, the more Booths you complete, the greater your share in the total pool. So if you have time, I recommend completing the Booth tasks for all 11 projects.

Specifically, you can follow this order, starting from the simplest:

First, do those Booths that only require following and liking; these tasks can be completed in a few minutes. Then, do the Booths that require posting interactions, spending some time to write quality content (do not copy and paste the same sentence; it will be too obvious and may be deemed invalid). Lastly, tackle the Booths with on-chain interaction requirements; these may require you to connect your wallet, making sure you have a small amount of ETH in your wallet on the Base chain to pay for gas (Base's gas fees are very low, usually just a few cents).

Step 5: Pay attention to your ranking and points

After completing tasks, return to the Base Discovery main page to check your points and ranking. Some project bonuses are awarded based on ranking (for example, Brett's $1,000 BRETT is only given to the Top 300), so if you want to receive a specific project's bonus, keep an eye on your ranking under that Booth.

During the event, feel free to return frequently, as some projects may update tasks or enhance rewards midway.

Step 6: Extra scoring items

In addition to completing tasks in the Booths, the original content you publish on the Base App related to these projects will also affect your Mindshare score. Mindshare is a core metric on City Protocol's Virality Leaderboard, simply put, it reflects your "attention contribution value" in the ecosystem.

So if you want to maximize rewards, don’t just complete tasks and leave. Engage in discussions about these projects on the Base App, share your experiences, and write informative content. These actions will be tracked by the Virality Leaderboard and positively influence your overall reward share.

Quick summary of the participation path

Open Base App → Enter Viral City → City Rewards → Base Discovery → Choose Booth and complete tasks → The more you do, the larger your share → Pay attention to ranking and points → Create more relevant content on Base App to enhance Mindshare → Wait for rewards to be distributed after the event ends on April 21.

The entire process does not require you to spend much money; it mainly requires your time. Gas fees on the Base chain can be virtually negligible. What is truly scarce is your attention and this 14-day window period.

4. What stage is the Base ecosystem in now?

Let’s quickly synchronize Base’s actions this year to help you understand why doing these things at this moment is meaningful.

Base's strategy in 2026 focuses on three directions: expanding the on-chain market (including tokenized assets), promoting stablecoin payments, and growing the developer ecosystem. Specifically, Base will support tokenized trading of assets like stocks and commodities while strengthening crypto-native products like perpetual contracts and prediction markets.

As one of the most active Ethereum L2s since its launch in 2023, Base already has a TVL of $3.85 billion. In February this year, it announced a gradual separation from Optimism's OP Stack, moving towards self-developed infrastructure, with a goal of increasing the frequency of major updates to about six times a year.

These signals together indicate that Base is currently in a very critical expansion period. Participating in ecosystem activities and accumulating on-chain data during this period has undeniable strategic value.
