Avara—the umbrella brand that once housed the spun-out Lens and the Family wallet—will be retired as Aave Labs streamlines operations and sharpens its focus on purpose-built decentralized finance experiences. Family, acquired in 2023 for its design-forward wallet and UX team, will see its iOS app gradually wound down: new users stop onboarding April 1, existing users retain access through April 1, 2027, and withdrawals remain available thereafter via accounts.aave.com.

The underlying “Family Accounts” infrastructure will live on as embedded, white-labeled wallets powering the Aave App and Aave Pro. Lens, meanwhile, is no longer under Avara and is now stewarded by Mask. Aave Labs said the changes simplify branding, prioritize safety and usability, and aim to onboard users through focused financial workflows rather than open-ended wallet explorers.
- What is happening to the Family wallet? New user onboarding ends April 1, with existing users supported through April 1, 2027, and withdrawals available afterward via accounts.aave.com.
- Will users lose access to funds? No, users retain full control of assets and can access accounts and withdrawals with existing credentials.
- What happens to Lens after Avara ends? Lens is no longer under Avara and is now stewarded by Mask.
- Why is Aave Labs making this change? The company is prioritizing embedded, purpose-built decentralized finance experiences with simpler onboarding and stronger safety features.
