Pioneering crypto derivative exchange, Bitmex, announced on Dec. 9 the launch of crypto-to-fiat on-ramps on its trading platform. The new feature is the result of a strategic partnership with Mercuryo, a global payment infrastructure platform, and is designed to simplify the onboarding and trading experience for the exchange’s global user base.
According to a media statement, the introduction of Mercuryo’s payment gateway will enable Bitmex users to purchase cryptocurrencies directly using a wide range of fiat currencies. The integration supports more than 30 fiat currencies and is available to traders across all eligible jurisdictions. Users can utilize several popular payment methods to complete their transactions, including credit cards, bank transfers, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Once a transaction is initiated, user accounts are credited with their chosen cryptocurrency—including major assets like bitcoin ( BTC), ethereum ( ETH), and solana ( SOL)—in a matter of minutes. The direct integration allows users to seamlessly convert their fiat into crypto to support trading across Bitmex’s spot and futures markets.
Executives from both companies emphasized the focus on user experience (UX) and accessibility.
“The integration of Mercuryo’s on-ramps on the BitMEX platform provides our users with a robust and intuitive means of converting fiat into the cryptocurrency of their choice,” said Raphael Polansky, Chief Growth Officer at Bitmex. “The user experience (UX) is everything in crypto and Mercuryo has proven expertise in delivering an optimum on-ramp experience.”
Petr Kozyakov, Co-Founder and CEO at Mercuryo, echoed this sentiment, noting that the partnership offers traders “the convenience of a trusted gateway wrapped in a familiar interface.”
He added, “This is an important step towards enhancing the trading experience for millions of BitMEX’s global users.”
The partnership signals a move by Bitmex to lower the barrier to entry for new users and consolidate its position in the competitive exchange market by offering essential fiat-to-crypto services directly on its platform.
