On October 23, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao posted on the X platform, confirming that he has received a pardon from former U.S. President Trump.

At the same time, the news of Zhao's pardon has sparked controversy in the trading sector.

According to reports, on the prediction market Polymarket, cryptocurrency trader Garrett Jin had previously bet that "Trump will pardon Zhao this year."

Data from blockchain analysis platform Arkham Intelligence shows that as the news spread, this bet has appreciated from a small principal amount to approximately $56,000 in profit.

Garrett is already known in the crypto circle for his "precise timing in major market fluctuations." Earlier this month, he established a large short position in Bitcoin and Ethereum on the Hyperliquid platform, shortly before Trump announced new tariff policies.

Within hours of the tariff news being released, cryptocurrency prices plummeted, and these leveraged trades worth over $700 million are estimated to have generated profits of $160 million to $200 million.

From "precisely shorting before the tariff policy announcement" to "betting for profit before the pardon news," such "timely trades" have repeatedly emerged, raising long-standing questions about "the possibility of having insider information from the presidential team."

However, Garrett has firmly denied any connection with the Trump family.

Nonetheless, these two coincidental events reveal an increasingly apparent reality in the cryptocurrency industry: every policy change in Washington today can have a direct impact on the market within seconds.
