The Ethereum Foundation Restructures Ecosystem Development to Accelerate Global Application Implementation.

Ethereum is at a critical moment. Interest in Ethereum has transcended technical experts and enthusiasts, attracting businesses, governments, and ordinary users seeking practical solutions and real benefits. The Ethereum ecosystem is adapting to these demands, and the Ethereum Foundation is ready to play its part.
As stated in the recent vision statement of the Ethereum Foundation, we have two main goals:
Maximize the number of people using Ethereum (directly or indirectly) and ensure they can benefit from Ethereum's underlying values. * Maximize the resilience of Ethereum's technology and social infrastructure.
Ecosystem Development (EcoDev) refers to teams that help achieve these goals on an ecosystem or social level, rather than a technical level. These teams are dedicated to eliminating real-world application bottlenecks, helping users integrate into Ethereum, supporting the global Ethereum community, providing funding, and assisting in managing the ecosystem to ensure Ethereum remains resilient and human-centered as it scales.
To better achieve these goals, we will significantly expand and restructure our ecosystem development efforts, focusing on four key areas.
Ecosystem Acceleration
We aim to accelerate the development of the ecosystem by closely collaborating with developers, founders, application teams, and businesses that wish to use Ethereum.
We will create four new teams to drive the effectiveness of the following key adoption channels:
Corporate Relations: Providing clear resources and guidance for businesses adopting Ethereum.
- Developer Growth: Attracting, mentoring, and supporting the next generation of Ethereum developers.
- Application Relations and Research: Accelerating meaningful user-facing Ethereum applications.
- Founder Success: Providing non-financial support, including feedback, referrals, operational expertise, and mentorship.
These teams will include long-term Ethereum Foundation members working in these areas (such as Austin Griffith in the developer growth area) as well as newly hired members to expand our skills and capabilities.
The core of our ecosystem acceleration work will be collaboration with existing networks and community members. Ethereum has a deep ecosystem, including individuals and organizations that support founders, developers, applications, and businesses, such as L2, accelerators, community events, hackathon organizers, investors, educators, and more.
Ecosystem Amplification
Other teams will help amplify our acceleration work and the ecosystem development efforts of the community.
These teams will help us understand and track ecosystem growth, host targeted events based on strategic priorities, educate through various media formats, and tell the important stories of Ethereum, while leveraging new tools and artificial intelligence to enhance our work.
These teams are an evolution of the existing teams at the Ethereum Foundation, in addition to the new ecosystem development automation team.
Digital Studio (formerly the ethereum.org team): Our innovation and storytelling engine, creating content-rich materials, videos, publications, and unique visualizations showcasing Ethereum's potential. Ethereum.org will continue to be one of the many projects developed by this team.
- Strategic Events: Designing targeted events ranging from small gatherings to single-day conferences on specific themes.
- Ethereum Everywhere: Focusing on expanding local communities and centers that support application developers (team name still in development).
- Ecosystem Development Automation: Enhancing internal operational efficiency through smart automation and AI-driven tools, empowering teams to achieve their goals more effectively.
Devcon/nect will continue to focus on hosting large annual events for the Ethereum ecosystem (such as Devcon and Devconnect), but will operate directly under the management team rather than being incorporated into the new ecosystem development structure.
Ecosystem Support
We will continue to maintain three teams dedicated to coordinating financial and increasing non-financial support to meet the needs of various initiatives within the Ethereum ecosystem:
ESP/Funding Support: Our funding program will undergo significant changes, emphasizing more targeted applications and non-financial support. This team will support the funding initiatives of the Ethereum Foundation teams, assist in reviewing some funding applications, and manage relationships with grantees.
- Strategic Funding Initiatives: Co-funding important public goods organizations that benefit the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
- Launchpad: Assisting organizations with operational design, sustainable funding, governance, and other challenges. Launchpad supports branches of the Ethereum Foundation, grantees, or other ecosystem organizations that can benefit.
Long-term Ecosystem Unlocking
We will also continue to undertake several long-term efforts to eliminate adoption barriers globally, divided into the following directions:
Policy Coordination: Monitoring global issues related to the Ethereum ecosystem, identifying risks and opportunities that the Ethereum Foundation can support, and collaborating with global policy organizations to promote positive outcomes for Ethereum.
- Institutional Secretariat: Establishing ongoing relationships with the public sector, multilateral organizations, and non-governmental organizations.
- Academic Secretariat: Promoting collaboration with universities, professors, and students to advance blockchain technology.
Ecosystem Collaboration
As Ethereum evolves, the ecosystem needs to do more work to support and guide this growth. We are excited to play a role and contribute in new ways, but we will not act alone. We have closely collaborated with the broader ecosystem, including organizations, companies, startups, event organizers, community members, investors, developers, and many other partners driving Ethereum forward.
The Ethereum ecosystem has been changing. This means that our approach to ecosystem development will also continue to evolve. We will keep asking: Where do we need to intervene and do what no one else can do today? We will continue to work to help others amplify their impact on the ecosystem, making the Ethereum ecosystem more resilient over time.
