Trump's "Big Beautiful" bill faces opposition within the Republican Party, hindering procedural voting in the House of Representatives.

According to reports, on Wednesday evening local time, during a procedural vote on a massive tax and spending bill, five Republican representatives cast opposing votes, and another eight have yet to vote, which at least currently prevents the bill from moving into the final approval stage.

Voting has been paused for several hours, with House Speaker Johnson lobbying the opponents to change their minds and persuading the eight who have not yet voted to cast supportive votes.

The key threshold for the bill to enter formal debate and voting procedures is that the number of opposing votes cannot exceed three.

Latest news indicates that the undecided and opposing representatives may be "close to reaching an agreement," with Johnson stating that the final vote is expected to take place "earlier in the morning."

Trump jumps in at midnight: What are Republicans waiting for? Absurd!

As the voting stalls, Trump posted on social media to apply pressure, stating that this is a choice between "the biggest tax cut and prosperous economy in history VS the biggest tax increase and failed economy in history," warning Republicans that "MAGA is not happy, and this is costing you votes!!!"

Trump also stated: "Republicans should have easily voted in favor. Absurd!!!"

Increasing Divisions Within the Party, Conservatives Strongly Oppose

Some moderate Republicans from competitive districts oppose the provisions in the Senate version of the bill that cut Medicaid, while conservatives harshly criticize the version for deviating from the House's original budget framework.

According to media reports, Texas Congressman Chip Roy criticized the Senate's version of the bill for increasing the deficit and violating the terms of the House budget agreement.

Roy listed his reasons for opposition on social media, including that the Senate version weakens provisions to terminate subsidies for the "Green New Deal scam" and removes key clauses preventing illegal immigrants from obtaining Medicaid.

Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie told the media that he changed his vote from "yes" to "no" because he does not want to leave a record of support if this becomes the only vote on the bill.

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi even publicly stated that it had been "a completely stupid long day."

Reports indicate that some Republicans were asked to stamp approval less than 24 hours after voting against the Senate bill. Earlier on Wednesday, House Speaker Johnson had optimistically stated that he believed there were enough Republican representatives to support the bill:

"Most of our agenda is included in this legislation, so it must pass."

Tightening Time Window, Republican Leadership Applies Pressure

Currently, this voting has lasted for more than four hours, and if the bill is to enter the final voting stage, it will still require at least another hour.

This raises uncertainties about whether the bill can be signed into law before the July 4 deadline set by Trump.

Facing internal resistance, Republican leadership is trying to leverage Trump's influence to secure supportive votes.

According to media reports, Trump plans to hold private meetings with key Republican factions, including the House Freedom Caucus, in an attempt to reach an agreement. Johnson will remain in the Capitol to hold separate meetings with undecided representatives.

The message from the leadership is: this may not be the ideal bill for Republicans, but it is the only version that can pass.

Ohio Republican Congressman Warren Davidson initially opposed the legislative version of the bill in May, but he has now decided to switch to a supportive vote. He posted on social media:

"This bill is not perfect, but it is the best version we can get."

A senior aide told the media, "Although House Republicans wish to see more in this bill, this is the reality they are facing now."
