According to reports, a cryptocurrency trader who creates content on TikTok was kidnapped in France on Friday and released a day later after the kidnappers discovered he did not have enough funds to meet their ransom demands.

France's Europe 1 radio reported that the 26-year-old TikTok cryptocurrency creator was abducted on Friday night while returning home to Juvisy-sur-Orge in northern France, with the kidnappers demanding he hand over €50,000 ($57,000) in cryptocurrency.

It was reported that four criminals forcibly took the trader into a stolen vehicle and assaulted him during the incident.

However, the cryptocurrency trader, who has 40,000 followers on TikTok, was released on Saturday after showing the kidnappers that his account balance was severely insufficient.

Europe 1 revealed that France's organized and specialized crime department is currently investigating the incident, and the trader has been granted six days of French work incapacity benefits.

This year, there has been a noticeable increase in kidnapping cases related to cryptocurrency in France, a serious situation that has even prompted the country's interior minister to hold meetings with cryptocurrency entrepreneurs to address the growing security risks.

On May 13, criminals attempted to kidnap the daughter and grandson of Pierre Noizat, co-founder and CEO of the French cryptocurrency exchange Paymium.

Paris police also successfully rescued the father of a cryptocurrency entrepreneur on May 3, who had been held captive for several days and had a finger severed as part of a €7 million ($7.8 million) kidnapping plot.

According to state media France 24, French police recently arrested several suspects related to the kidnapping of the cryptocurrency entrepreneur's father on June 11.

Prior to this, on June 4, one of the alleged main planners of a recent series of cryptocurrency-related kidnappings in France was arrested in Morocco.

Meanwhile, the Paris prosecutor's office filed criminal charges against 25 individuals related to multiple criminal conspiracies targeting well-known cryptocurrency figures and their families on May 31.
