Young Coin God? Is it survivor bias? Is it a curse?

My friends who know me are aware that I have a background in science and engineering, but due to my passion for finance and business, I obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification in the United States and entered a brokerage firm's proprietary trading room, starting my life as a trader.

The volatility of traditional financial derivatives is already significant, especially in the options products I specialized in at the time. However, compared to these, the stories of overnight wealth in blockchain and cryptocurrency always caught my eye.

In 2020, I was fortunate to join Kronos Research, becoming one of the only two discretionary traders in the company, and I was exposed to blockchain applications beyond trading for the first time.

At that time, capital was flooding into the blockchain industry like the tide, valuations were soaring, and even pigs on the wind could fly. I also made a profit during this wave, enough to almost retire.

So, how did I make my money? Although the details cannot be replicated, the general direction is actually quite simple, with only three points:

Find projects that won't go bankrupt in the short term

Refer to the initial VC investment prices

Decisively buy when approaching or below that price

Of course, relying solely on these three points is not enough; I also possessed basic concepts of financial investment and trading. More importantly, I tracked industry news almost around the clock, frantically researched various emerging applications, and developed a keen sense of smell.

At that time, the pressure was so great that my family could feel my distracted state, as I stared at market dynamics and news all day long. However, it was also during that time that my knowledge absorption reached its peak.

Thus, within less than three months of entering this industry, I became a typical case of survivor bias. Although the money I made was not enough to last several lifetimes, it was already quite sufficient for a child from a civil servant family.

After that, my motivation to make money gradually diminished, and my sharpness, learning ability, and mindset slowly declined. In simple terms, I transformed from "actively attacking" to "passively waiting."

In this rapidly changing market, being passive often makes it difficult to earn money. Over time, I even began to lose interest and confidence in making money.

This state gradually lowered my pace of life, slowly leading me toward a retired lifestyle.

But to be honest, retirement life is really enjoyable!

Just how enjoyable is it? Is it really that great? I'll discuss it in detail with everyone tomorrow.

So far, this has only been a brief overview; the next experience will be completely raw and real.
