I often receive such calls in Singapore, claiming to be from the immigration office or ICA.
The blogger cleverly judges whether the caller is really from Shanghai or the Wu-speaking region based on their accent, and then discovers the flaws. However, in Singapore, it's difficult to determine this based on accent.
However, when I tried speaking to them in English, the caller immediately revealed themselves, as they couldn't speak a single sentence of English 🤣
Later, I found out that it's said the bosses in the call centers group employees, and those who can speak English are assigned to the American or Indian teams (with higher salaries), and they don't make calls to Chinese-speaking customers…
Also, genuine Singaporean customer service seems to be mostly Indian friends… 😂 For those living overseas, it's even more important to stay vigilant! Additionally, if you encounter scammers, you can try speaking a few sentences in English.
