Kuala Lumpur, July 15th — The first Malaysia Blockchain Week (MYBW) is set to bring mainstream Malaysian society into the Web3 world. MYBW is rooted in Malaysia in the international digital space, bringing together Malaysian founders and well-known industry leaders in the digital field.

The week-long event is organized by the Malaysian Web3 giant Lydian Labs, in collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), and launched by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, YB Tuan Gobind Singh Deo.

Witnessing the Malaysian Faces in the Blockchain Field

The Web3 field transcends international borders, attracting Malaysians dedicated to advancing the industry's undeveloped frontiers.

As a result, many Malaysians have become industry giants in the blockchain field, wielding significant influence and expertise in the industry. While they may be relatively unknown in real life, fortunate MYBW participants will have the opportunity to interact closely with these key Malaysian founders of Web3 companies.

Young entrepreneurs and those aspiring to explore the Web3 field, as well as experienced international investors, will benefit from the gathering of blockchain experts and Web3 veterans at MYBW.

At MYBW, local industry giants are expected to attend to support Malaysian-led initiatives and provide unique industry insights in the event's keynote speeches and panel discussions.

The attendees include Matthew Tan, the founder and CEO of Etherscan.io. Etherscan is a leading Ethereum block explorer, API, and analytics platform. Prior to Etherscan, Tan founded and developed the early token-based blockchain explorer Blockscan for Counterparty, a smart contract blockchain built on Bitcoin. With approximately 15 years of industry experience, he previously consulted and developed custom business solutions as a co-founder of a data/network application solutions provider.

Next is Bobby Ong, the co-founder and COO of CoinGecko, an analytics platform for tracking cryptocurrency and blockchain assets. CoinGecko was established in April 2014 and is one of the world's largest cryptocurrency data aggregators. Additionally, Ong is a contributing author of two cryptocurrency books — the first edition of "The Cryptocurrency Handbook" and the first volume of "Handbook of Blockchain, Digital Finance, and Inclusion." He was also listed in Forbes' 2019 Asia 30 Under 30 list and graduated from University College London with a Bachelor's degree in Economics in 2012.

Other Malaysian founders include but are not limited to:

  • Siong, co-founder of Jupiter, a decentralized exchange aggregator widely used on the Solana blockchain platform.

  • Shawn Chong, co-founder of Salus, a comprehensive Web3 security company focused on strategic initiatives at the intersection of user protection and blockchain and network security, with experience in both traditional and blockchain security.

  • TN Lee, founder of Pendle Finance, a DeFi platform that enables users to tokenize and trade future yields on Ethereum assets.

  • Dr Ian Tan, co-founder of Lydian Labs, a full-stack Web3 solutions provider focused on the Asia-Pacific region, specializing in consulting, technology, and marketing.

  • Nicole Yap, founder of 8SIAN NFT, skillfully tokenizing the rich textures of Asian heritage into NFTs, celebrating the history and depth of Asian women while building a global and inclusive Asian community.

  • Julian Koh, co-founder of Aevo, a high-performance decentralized derivatives exchange focused on options.

These Malaysian giants will also be joined by internationally renowned industry figures such as Chess, CEO of GM Network; Dr. Kang Li, Chief Scientist of CertiK; Victor Ji, co-founder of Manta Network; Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget; Yoann Turpin, co-founder of Wintermute; Moshe, Chairman of Oobit; Mark Rydon, CEO of Aethir; and John Yao, CEO of Team Secret, and many others.

Forging the Future of Malaysian Web3

MYBW will set the tone and future for the growth and widespread adoption of Malaysian Web3, hosting 33 panel discussions, 15 keynote speeches, and over 150 speakers, unveiling important blockchain topics such as regulatory issues, decentralized finance and Islamic digital economy, blockchain traceability, NFT and Web3 games, and the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on Malaysia.

It is expected that over 2500 participants will attend the event, fostering discussions among key stakeholders, bringing together government decision-makers and industry leaders to collectively forge the future of Malaysian Web3.
