As a native bridging protocol, Sui Bridge is secured by Sui verification nodes to ensure the high trustworthiness and reliability of the bridging protocol.

Sui Bridge is now officially launched on the testnet!

As a native bridging protocol specifically built for bridging assets and data on the Sui blockchain, Sui Bridge aims to enhance interoperability between Sui and Ethereum. It allows users to easily and securely transfer ETH, wBTC, USDC, and USDT between Ethereum and Sui, and is an important part of the Sui infrastructure. By leveraging the unique features of the Sui network to provide efficient transaction speeds, low transaction costs, and a decentralized architecture, Sui Bridge offers a new gateway into the Sui ecosystem.

With the development of the Sui ecosystem, diverse, secure, and reliable bridging options have become essential components of a healthy DeFi ecosystem. Sui Bridge facilitates interoperability between different blockchains, enabling assets and data to move across networks. This enhances liquidity and expands the utility of digital assets, making it easier for users to participate in various blockchain activities such as DeFi and gaming.

Security of Sui Bridge

As a native bridging protocol, Sui Bridge is secured by Sui verification nodes to ensure the high trustworthiness and reliability of the bridging protocol. Unlike third-party bridging protocols that rely on external verification nodes, Sui Bridge utilizes the inherent security infrastructure of the Sui blockchain. This native security guarantee means that the bridging protocol enjoys the same strong mechanisms of protection as the Sui network itself.

Test Incentive Program

With the release of Sui Bridge, we have launched an incentive program aimed at improving user experience and ensuring the security and reliability of the system. We encourage participants to extensively test Sui Bridge, help us identify any potential issues, and promptly address them. For active contributors who participate in testing Sui Bridge, a total of 100,000 SUI tokens will be rewarded.

To participate in the test incentive program, users need to interact with Sui Bridge through the web interface on the testnet and ensure the successful completion of the entire bi-directional asset transfer process, including claiming bridged assets on both ends. This helps us track eligible interactions and accurately reward participants. Participating in activities through means other than the web interface, such as directly calling functions, will result in the address being ineligible for rewards. Please carefully review the official guidelines for other eligibility requirements.

Through this testing program, we encourage participants to actively explore the entire bridging process and welcome everyone to discover and report issues during testing, so that we can continuously optimize and provide better services.

Before reporting issues, users should check Sui Discord and review discussions in the sui-bridge specific channel. To report new issues, please use the dedicated Sui Bridge forum. The issue description submitted by users typically needs to include a video to help reproduce the problem, along with relevant transaction hashes/summaries. If the reported issue is valid, rewards will be distributed at the end of the program.

In addition, to streamline the process, we have established a comprehensive FAQ to address common misunderstandings and known issues. Participants should carefully review the FAQ content before reporting any issues. Moderators will assist in reviewing submitted videos to ensure their accuracy and relevance. We encourage the submission of high-quality reports, but it should be noted that low-quality and spam reports may have a negative impact on reward distribution.

Bug Bounty Program

In conjunction with the testnet incentive program, we will also expand the scope of the Sui bug bounty program to include Sui Bridge.

We invite the community to help us identify and fix any potential vulnerabilities. Every contribution, from severe vulnerabilities leading to permanent loss of user funds to moderate vulnerabilities such as bridging node crashes, is crucial to ensuring and enhancing the security and reliability of Sui Bridge. Join us in further enhancing the security and user experience of Sui Bridge. Please carefully review the official guidelines for other eligibility requirements.

Operating Guide

Currently, the Sui Bridge web interface is using the Sui testnet and the Sepolia testnet for Ethereum.

Most wallets allow users to switch between networks in the same way as the Sui Bridge web interface, either from tabs or dropdown menus.

Users must request testnet tokens from a faucet specific to that network. There are multiple faucet options available on the Sepolia and Sui testnets. For example, Google Cloud provides an Ethereum Sepolia testnet faucet, and Sui Wallet offers a simple one-click process to claim testnet SUI for the mobile and browser extension versions.

More methods for obtaining testnet SUI tokens are listed in the Sui documentation.

Sui Bridge supports five types of tokens on the testnet:

The following article will explain how to bridge assets from the Sepolia Ethereum to the Sui testnet, and then bridge the assets back to the Sepolia Ethereum. Each round-trip bridging is considered a complete test case eligible for rewards.

  1. Access the Sui Bridge testnet web interface.

  1. Connect Ethereum and Sui wallets. For the target chain, you can also choose to manually enter the address by clicking "Enter manually."

  2. Obtain/test coins from the faucet or token contract:

  • For Native Sepolia Ethereum, please use the link provided at the top of the article.

  • For Wrapped ETH, on Etherscan, go to "Contract," then click "Write Contract," then click "Connect to Web3," and then "write" a "deposit" transaction to wrap native Sepolia Ethereum into WETH.

  • For WBTC, USDC, or USDT on Etherscan, go to "Contract," then click "Write Contract," then click "Connect to Web3," and then "write" a minting transaction to obtain the tokens.

    • Note that WBTC has 8 decimal places, so an amount of 1000000 equals 0.01 WBTC. USDC and USDT have 6 decimal places.
  1. Now let's test bridging tokens from Sepolia Ethereum to the Sui testnet. Select a token, input the amount to bridge, and then choose "Bridge assets." The interface may require approval of ERC20 token allowances.

  1. After approving the transaction from the wallet, the user will return to the transaction details page to track the progress of the bridging transaction. Transfers from Sepolia to Sui Testnet may take about 10 minutes to complete.

  1. Upon confirmation on Ethereum, in most cases, the bridged tokens will be sent directly to the receiving address on the Sui testnet without the need for the recipient to claim manually. In some special cases, the recipient may need to wait for a period and manually claim on the user interface. During the incentive program, we may intentionally introduce this scenario to test this behavior.

  1. Now let's test bridging from the Sui testnet to Sepolia Ethereum.

Click the switch button in the middle of the list to change the transfer direction. Select the asset that just arrived at the Sui testnet address (the amount is not important), bridge it back, and submit the initialization transaction. Then the user can immediately claim the assets on Sepolia Ethereum using the "Claim" button on the second transaction interface.

In some special cases, the recipient may need to wait additional time to claim the tokens. During the incentive program, we may intentionally introduce this scenario to test this behavior.

Get ready to join the testing!

By participating in the Sui Bridge testnet, users can not only help us create a more secure and efficient bridge, but they will also experience a smooth transition when the bridge goes live on the Sui mainnet. We are excited to see the community's active participation and look forward to any feedback from the community.

Join us today to test Sui Bridge and stay tuned for the release of Sui Bridge on the mainnet!
