The appearance of Notcoin does not seem to be an isolated phenomenon. Similar products in the TON ecosystem are emerging one after another.

The successful launch of Notcoin has forced the crypto world to re-examine the power of the Telegram ecosystem. With over 35 million users, launching Binance mining activities, and a pre-market value of $850 million, it has achieved remarkable success. Especially with 35 million users and 5 million daily active users, it is a height that is difficult for most crypto products to reach.

However, the appearance of Notcoin does not seem to be an isolated phenomenon. Similar products in the TON ecosystem are emerging one after another. In terms of user numbers, projects like Hamster Kombat and Tapswap are also replicating the legend of Notcoin.

Tapswap claims to have over 20 million users, and according to TGstats data, the Tapswap community has become the second largest Telegram channel globally, with over 8.4 million subscribers. Another small game, Hamster Kombat, claims to have over 15 million users, with its community channel having approximately 7.9 million subscribers, ranking third globally. The subscriber numbers of these two projects have surpassed the previously popular Notcoin, whose channel has 6.4 million subscribers, ranking fifth globally.

"Is the Fascia Gun Mini-Game Becoming a TON Game Template?"

The game modes of Hamster Kombat and Tapswap are similar to that of Notcoin, where players earn game coins by tapping the screen. Due to the high frequency of tapping, many users use tools such as fascia guns to complete tasks. These mindless tapping games are also known as "fascia gun mini-games."

The "fascia gun mini-game" itself is not innovative and has long been widely used in various H5 games in the Web2 world. However, in the successful case of Notcoin, its combination of token mining and screen tapping has achieved new success. Perhaps due to Notcoin's open-sourcing of the game code, this model has now become a paradigm for simple and replicable crypto games on TON.

However, the TON ecosystem is not just about "fascia gun mini-games." Another recently active game platform on TON, Catizen, is a small game similar to a cartoon cat-themed match-three game. Catizen's official statement indicates that it currently has over 7 million users, with over 1 million daily active users.

After experiencing several popular games, it is evident that even simple gameplay has been upgraded on the basis of Notcoin. For example, Hamster Kombat's gameplay has added props and investment cards, allowing players to earn coins not only by tapping the screen. Catizen has even stronger playability, combining its UI design style and cat café-themed story background with match-three gameplay, making it more interesting.

Is H5 Mini-Game Airdrop the True Path for Blockchain Games?

The development of blockchain games has always struggled to balance playability and economic returns. The previous bull market saw the explosion of play-to-earn (P2E) games represented by Axie Infinity. However, the development of blockchain games has mainly focused on the in-game token economic model. Once this token economy becomes unbalanced, the game will face a significant loss of users.

On the other hand, since blockchain games generally require interaction with wallets, they can be a barrier for many Web2 users to enter. However, the small games that have emerged on the TON ecosystem can attract a large number of users in a short period. The main reason may have solved the above two problems:

  1. The game experience is no different from Web2 games and does not require linking a wallet to participate. There is no need for user education in the game experience, as it is simple and easy to use.

  2. There is an airdrop expectation. Although these games may not be very fun from a gameplay perspective, compared to traditional Web2 games, the in-game tokens may become the tokens issued by the final project. This means that user interaction can be converted into real money.

  3. Tokens are distributed via airdrops without involving in-game economic model design. Compared to traditional blockchain games, the tokens of these small games are usually distributed through airdrops after a phase of activity. This means that users playing the game do not know the specific value of the in-game currency, so they are less likely to seek profit or introduce excessive studio players, which could cause the game's economic model to collapse.

How Much Money Can You Make Playing Small Games?

Three of the top five channels with the most global subscribers on Telegram are projects in the TON ecosystem.

Currently, the most prominent project in the TON ecosystem is Notcoin. Taking Notcoin as an example, during its issuance, it used a 1000:1 exchange ratio between game coins and the token NOT. 78% of the NOT tokens were distributed to 35 million users, with an average of approximately 2291 tokens per user, which, at the opening price of NOT at $0.0085, equates to about $19 per user. However, obtaining this amount of game coins is not as simple as interacting a few times, and it may require several days of frequent interaction.

However, based on the current momentum, games like Hamster Kombat, Tapswap, and Catizen are likely to surpass Notcoin's records in terms of data. After all, Hamster Kombat and Tapswap have already become the top three TG channels globally, surpassing Notcoin in this aspect. As for the high user numbers of 15 million and 20 million, there is currently no publicly verifiable data to confirm their authenticity.

From this perspective, it may be difficult for subsequent games like Hamster Kombat and Tapswap to achieve the same level of influence as Notcoin in terms of background and resources, unless they achieve a larger breakthrough in user numbers. Otherwise, the economic effects of interactive games may not necessarily be very attractive.
