The "Web3 Connect" forum hosted by C² Ventures during Token 2049 unexpectedly sparked a battle among cryptocurrency market makers, with the focal point being the highly controversial DWF Labs.
DWF Under Fire Again: Ineligible to Sit with Other Market Makers
DWF Labs co-founder Andrei Grachev expressed gratitude for the invitation to the "Web3 Connect" forum in a tweet following the event. However, market maker GSR lashed out on Twitter, stating that DWF Labs was not qualified to sit with the forum's panelists: market makers GSR and Wintermute, as well as OKX. They considered it an insult for DWF Labs to be included.
GSR lamented that it was very sad that bad actors like DWF Labs could still attract so much attention at the end of 2023.
Another market maker, Wintermute CEO Evgeny Gaevoy, also liked the tweet. Interestingly, in the event photos shared by GSR, a portion featuring Andrei Grachev was deliberately removed.

DWF Labs co-founder Andrei Grachev responded to Wintermute, stating, "You're actually starting to collaborate with your competitors (laughs), and yet you complain like a child, saying we are bad actors."
"Our market making is great, effortlessly taking over your market share, but you are helpless. I will soon receive your resume."
Market Makers' Views on DWF Labs
During Token 2049, Chain News encountered several market makers who expressed complaints about DWF Labs.
- One market maker revealed to Chain News during the conference that aside from harming ordinary retail investors, DWF Labs' "harvesting" activities reportedly even led to their own employees suffering due to the company's misinformation.
- Another market maker shared more information, stating that as a former partner of DWF Labs, their employees had a very poor experience working with DWF Labs and classified them as one of the worst market makers.
- As a benchmark, another well-known market maker in the crypto industry, Wintermute, was categorized as "neither good nor bad."
