1 - How is the current development of Curve?
Putting aside team factors, looking solely at its current ecosystem, although it still holds a leading position in the stablecoin space, with innovations from Uniswap and Spark leveraging V4 Hooks, I believe Curve has at least welcomed strong competitors. This is a situation it has never encountered in its past development history.
If we also consider team factors, I am even more skeptical about its prospects.
For most projects, there is basically no unbreakable moat. Moreover, even if a certain moat is established, if no one maintains and consolidates it over the long term, this moat will eventually collapse. To effectively carry out such maintenance and consolidation work, a reliable team is necessary.
Therefore, the long-term development of a project must be viewed through the lens of its team.
Curve had a very good start, but without the continuous efforts and careful management of a reliable team, its advantages will be gradually eroded.
The reason Curve has maintained its leading position in the stablecoin market over the past few years, in my opinion, is that the vast majority of existing stablecoins appeared before Curve. When Curve emerged, it targeted them and served them well, thus establishing a solid advantage in the existing market.
However, moving forward, especially once the "Clarity Act" is passed, I believe a large number of newly emerging stablecoins from over-the-counter markets will enter in batches, creating new opportunities, and also likely providing competitors a chance to gain a foothold in the stablecoin market.
Among the platforms launched in cooperation with Spark and Uniswap, the variety of stablecoins it currently supports is not extensive, but one very obvious category is the stablecoin issued by Paypal. I see this as a signal; they are targeting new markets and new varieties.
In this case, whoever can seize this new opportunity will likely capture the new market.
This also requires a very good team.
2 - I found that... the updates are strictly from Monday to Friday, with weekends and holidays being breaks, probably spending time with family. No matter the bull or bear market, as long as it can continue to output... it can be a source of comfort.
I remember that before 2023 or 2022, it was basically updated almost every day. But since then, updates have stopped on holidays and weekends, mainly to leave more time for myself to think about long-term visions, reducing the negative impacts of short-term market fluctuations and disturbances (especially price fluctuations).
After adjusting like this, I basically rarely pay attention to short-term market trends, and naturally, I will start viewing issues, development, and patterns from a long-term perspective.
3 - Didn't Majic make a lot of money from the ICO in 2017?
Majic indeed launched projects during that wave of ICOs, and he also launched the project Cream during the DeFi boom, but these projects have largely faded away afterward. His most successful and famous maneuver in the crypto ecosystem was purchasing a large number of bored apes at the right time, which not only accumulated considerable wealth but also earned him extraordinary fame, making him well-known even outside of the circle.
Unfortunately, such a rich accumulation ultimately resulted in losses in trading.
Looking back at his subsequent operations, outsiders often associate: if he had stopped, if he hadn’t stirred things up, if only he... ultimately he could have rested on this wealth.
However, this is actually impossible. As Duan Yongping once said (the essence is):
Everyone will ultimately become the person they were meant to be.
