The full-chain game Sky Strife developed by the Lattice team was launched on the Redstone mainnet yesterday. As of now, the game has generated over 1000 battles, with 798 registered players.

However, compared to the game mechanics of Sky Strife, what may be more confusing for new players is its slightly complex economic system.
In the current Sky Strife economic system, it includes the token Orbs(?) in ERC-20 form and the game season pass NFT. In addition, in this version of the SkyStrife mainnet, a new concept called Sky Key has also emerged.
So, how do these different components form a complete game economy system, and what is the current actual operation? In this article, we will briefly analyze the token economics of Sky Strife for you.
01. Orbs(?)
Orbs(?) is the most important token in the current Sky Strife game, with a total issuance of 100 million, a fixed total supply, and all tokens have been minted. Except for a few Orbs(?) that have been distributed to winning players through game rewards, the remaining tokens are stored in the contract address of the Sky Pool (Address: 0x9d05cc196c87104a7196fcca41280729b505dbbf).
In this season, players will consume 100 Orbs(?) for creating a game. At the end of each game, the system will also pay the corresponding Orbs(?) from the Sky Pool fund to the winning players as rewards.
In each game, the tokens rewarded to players are 100 Orbs(?) * the reward base. The reward base will be dynamically adjusted based on the total number of games completed in the past 7 days. The specific algorithm is shown in the table below:

In simple terms, if the number of games completed in the past 7 days is too low, the reward coefficient will increase, up to 5 times the base reward amount, which is 500 Orbs(?). If the number of games completed in the previous 7 days is too high, the reward base for new games will continue to decrease, with a minimum of 0.1 times the base reward, which is 10 Orbs(?) per game.
If the number of games completed in the past 7 days is stable at 1000, the system will reach a balance, and the circulation of Orbs(?) will not change.
In each game, the rewards for different players will be distributed based on their ranking in the game, as shown in the table below:

According to the official documentation, the main purpose of designing this token issuance mechanism is to suppress speculation in the game.
Because once the total number of games completed in the past 7 days exceeds 1000, the expected income and cost of speculators will reach a balance (maximum profit of 100 - initial cost of 100 = 0) or even negative. At that time, speculators will stop participating in the game, theoretically leaving only genuine game players in the system.
02. Season Pass
In the days leading up to the start of each season, Sky Strife will also start the Season Pass minting activity for the current season.
Of course, the Season Pass is not a necessary condition for playing the game. Holding a Season Pass will only give players some special privileges, and regular players can still participate in the game without a Season Pass.

For this season, the minting cost of the Season Pass is uniformly set at 0.03 ETH, and holders will have the following exclusive functions:
- Freely set the entry fee when creating a game, or set a whitelist for the game to create games that only private individuals can participate in (games can also be created without a Season Pass, but with limited functionality);
- Choose from all types of initial heroes (currently a total of 3, with two exclusive to Season Pass holders);
- Enter exclusive maps (one of the four maps is exclusive to Season Pass holders);
- Enter exclusive battles;
It is also worth noting that each Season Pass will only be valid for the current season and cannot be used across seasons.
03. Sky Key: Changes and Invariability of Game Rules
Although immutability has always been a feature of smart contracts, like many DeFi protocols, many full-chain games can still upgrade or adjust certain key parameters after deployment.
So, how should these permissions be managed? This has also become a governance issue that full-chain games must solve in the future.
In the Sky Strife game deployed on the mainnet this time, the developers abstracted all permissions for modifying the game as "Sky Key." Holders of Sky Key will have the management rights to the Sky Strife World contract and the Sky Pool fund.
Holders of Sky Key will be able to freely adjust the following game parameters or content:
- Maps;
- Heroes;
- Buildings;
- Units;
- Terrain;
- Game reward mechanism;
- Seasons;
- Season Pass;
- Open-source game front-end;
However, in addition to the above changeable rules, the underlying basic mechanisms of the game remain unchangeable, including:
- The core logic of the game, such as: health, strength, movement, attack, etc.;
- The core economic mechanism of the game, including: creating matches, sky pool, battle reward system;
Currently, the management rights of Sky Key are still controlled by the Lattice development team of Sky Strife. However, in the documentation, Lattice stated that they will return the management rights of Sky Key to the community in the future.
04. Actual Operation
(1) Reward Base
On the first day after the launch of Sky Strife on the mainnet, enthusiastic players (including speculators of Orbs(?)) created a large number of matches, quickly pushing the total number of games created in the past 7 days to over 1000.
This rapidly reduced the reward base for each game from 5x to 0.75x, putting the total circulation of Orbs(?) into a deflationary state.
Also, since the reward base for games is calculated based on the total number of games completed in the past 7 days, it will not be possible to see an increase in the game reward base until May 9 at the earliest. Therefore, the enthusiasm of players to create new matches has been greatly suppressed, and the game has entered a quiet period.

(2) Price of Orbs(?)
The launch of Redswap along with the Redstone mainnet helped the market quickly establish the pricing of Orbs(?). After early selling pressure caused a rapid decline in the price of Orbs(?), the price has now stabilized at around 0.1 USDC/Orbs(?).

However, due to the small size of the current market's liquidity pool, there is still significant price fluctuation risk for Orbs(?).
(3) Season Pass (Season 1)
According to data from the NFT market redstone.market in Redstone, the total minting of Season Pass has exceeded 500. There is about 1 day left until the end of the minting period, and the new minting numbers have significantly decreased.

In conclusion, as the first full-chain game on the Redstone mainnet, Sky Strife has achieved a good initial performance. Its economic system also provides a lot of reference space for future projects. Whether Sky Strife can be truly player-driven and avoid falling into speculative traps on the Redstone mainnet is something we will continue to observe.
