There is a new trend in the forefront of the chain: scene coins.
According to Li Jin's recent meme coin classification, scene coins are "community-first meme coins" that "are launched as the Schelling point of a distributed community with shared values and missions". (Note: Schelling point, also known as focal point, is a tendency for people to choose in the absence of communication in game theory. This choice may be made because it seems natural, special, or relevant to the chooser.)

Are these bottom-up developed grassroots tokens skyrocketing? The new on-chain stack makes coordinating cryptocurrencies easier than ever before.
For example, a key pillar here is Warpcast, which is a leading application of Farcaster and a darling of the current crypto social scene.

With its built-in wallet support and composability with other resources such as Zora NFT minting, Warpcast has become the fertile ground and headquarters for the new wave of community-driven meme coins, such as $DEGEN, $HIGHER, and $ENJOY.
Another rising pillar of scene coins is Party, a platform + protocol combination for streamlining on-chain groups. The $HIGHER community uses Party to transparently coordinate the release of its tokens.

Of course, without top-down organization, scene coins start from a nascent state, and they gain further attention through stirring "hive mind" community engagement. Now, we see:
$DEGEN mission = Rewarding great Farcaster content.
$HIGHER mission = Creating an optimistic lifestyle brand.
$ENJOY mission = Curating delightful on-chain media.
Just as NFTs on Zora have become the preferred diffusion path for noun media, Zora has also become the preferred minting platform for today's scene coin community culture.

There are many reasons—Zora is very user-friendly, it provides rewards and flexibility for creators, and it is friendly to Farcaster. But more importantly, Zora has recently leaned into scene coins and has become the center of scene coin creation with its own capabilities.
In fact, the Zora team recently activated ERC-20 minting, paving the way for creators to sell NFTs for non-ETH tokens. As these meme coin communities continue to thrive, this new feature combined with Warpcast, which is friendly to minting NFTs, has sparked a recent NFT craze with scene coins as the theme.

Nevertheless, in the ongoing memecoin craze in the crypto economy, new on-chain stacks such as Warpcast, Party, and Zora are redefining the way asset creation and community diffusion operate. They can collectively channel the energy of meme coins into the development of scene coins and concentrate it on productive goals.
Looking ahead, the lasting success of scene coins will largely depend on community engagement and bottom-up governance. How these projects navigate and innovate around decentralized decision-making will be a key clue worth paying attention to in the future.
In addition, apart from speculation, the long-term value of scene coins will depend on their adoption and utility inside and outside the community. Pay attention to upcoming integrations and partnerships, as well as the possibility of scene coins evolving into mature product lines.
Can this new token niche market maintain momentum and participation in the coming years? What models can ensure its growth and sustainability without sacrificing community value?
The answers to these questions are still to be observed, but the potential for scene coins to reshape how new communities are built from scratch is already evident.
