[Coins.ph Faces Regulatory Action from Philippine Central Bank, License May Be Revoked Due to Services for Offshore Gambling Platforms]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Coins.ph, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the Philippines, is facing regulatory action from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). According to an informed source, the exchange is involved in providing services to offshore gambling platforms, with the severity of the violations potentially leading to the revocation of its operating license. Earlier this month, the Philippine Central Bank imposed restrictions on deposits made through Coins.ph's main wallet operating company, as disclosed by individuals familiar with the process. Several compliance department employees have left Coins.ph this year, including Chief Compliance Officer Lexi Herrera, as well as anti-money laundering experts Chris Beaño and Irish Calagui.
