Looking back at the ideas we discussed in last Friday's tweet, here's what's happened over the past couple of days:
1) Iran attacked an oil tanker, and the Houthis and Saudi Arabia exchanged fire. With oil prices unstable, the market hasn't been able to stabilize either.
2) Today, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan commented that the bottleneck for AI isn't just production capacity but also capital. You can't just look at his statement alone without connecting it to recent reports about Broadcom potentially providing nearly $100 billion in financing guarantees for Anthropic and OpenAI. Given this, his remarks aren't surprising, but they do further deepen market concerns.
As we mentioned on Friday, the market is likely to remain volatile in the near term. Pre-CPI risk aversion, midterm elections, and industry-related worries will all make the market prone to adjustments at the slightest disturbance.
Ultimately, we may need to wait for the cloud providers' earnings reports at the end of next week to see if they serve as a turning point or catalyst.
