According to *The Wall Street Journal*, Michael S. Selig, Chairman of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), stated that the CFTC is proposing its first set of crypto market regulatory rules, including Crypto Asset Transactions (CTX) and Crypto Asset Markets (CAM). The goal is to establish a federal regulatory framework and listing/trading standards for crypto asset trading platforms using existing statutory authority. The new framework will provide a unified federal registration pathway for crypto platforms seeking CFTC oversight and allow compliant platforms to offer crypto trading with margin, leverage, or financing support to retail investors. Selig noted that this move aims to shift from the previous reliance on 'regulation through enforcement' to establishing clear rules.
