[Claude no longer separates Chat and Cowork, Anthropic begins to make Agent mode invisible] Beating AI Newsflash: Anthropic has merged Claude Chat and Cowork into a single entry point. From now on, users don’t need to choose between 'Chat' or 'Work'; they can directly present their needs to Claude. It will determine on its own whether to answer questions or take on complex tasks. The projects, skills, connectors, and context from the original Cowork will all be retained. Interestingly, Cowork was initially split off by Anthropic. When it was launched in January this year, it was positioned as 'Claude Code for the rest of your work,' specifically designed to handle multi-step tasks like reports and documents. However, when users started using it, they still had to decide whether to assign tasks to Chat or Cowork, and it was difficult to seamlessly continue work between the two entry points. Now, Anthropic has proactively removed this layer of choice. Claude has also added Docs and Slides, allowing users to directly generate and edit documents and PowerPoint presentations within conversations. Claude Design has also been integrated into the same entry point. Once a task is handed over to Claude, it can continue processing even if the computer is turned off, and users can check progress on their phones. Anthropic started with Cowork to push Claude from being a chat tool to becoming a working Agent, and now it has hidden the Agent mode itself. Users no longer need to worry about whether it’s Chat, Cowork, Docs, or Slides behind the scenes—they just need to tell Claude what they want. [Original link]
