HBO Max's verified Reddit account was hijacked earlier this month, with attackers posting 108 malicious ads within about 48 hours to trick users into installing fake software. Researchers revealed that the campaign used the ClickFix technique, targeting Mac and Windows users to execute malicious commands. These commands could steal browser credentials, passwords, Telegram data, and crypto wallet seed phrases, as well as hijack clipboard data to replace copied wallet addresses with the attackers' addresses. Reddit has suspended the related ads and launched an investigation. It's still unclear how the account was compromised, the number of affected users, or the scale of crypto asset losses.
