According to the UK's *The Daily Telegraph*, Binance is planning to apply for a crypto license with the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) under new rules set to take effect next year, aiming to re-enter the UK market after several years. Under the new regulations, crypto exchanges will need to establish a physical presence in the UK, demonstrate sufficient compliance resources, and pass a "fitness" test. License applications are expected to open next month, with the new rules officially coming into effect in October 2027. Binance is reportedly planning to set up a board of directors in the UK for this purpose.
The FCA had previously banned Binance's UK entity from conducting regulated activities in 2021, citing it as "unable to be effectively supervised." In 2023, Binance was further restricted from conducting financial promotions through UK partners, preventing it from onboarding new customers locally.
