PPI MoM 0%, Core MoM 0.2%. This PPI further confirms last night's mild CPI.
It shows that not only are consumer-side prices cooling down, but there’s also no significant rebound in price pressure on the production side.
The market will further reduce the necessity of an immediate rate hike in September, but whether rate hikes can be completely ruled out will depend on PCE mapping projects and next month’s CPI.
Looking purely at the data, there doesn’t seem to be a need for a rate hike in August, but from a political and feasibility perspective, September might be the only rate hike window before the election.
