[Japan's Financial Services Agency Standardizes Cybersecurity Incident Reporting Format for 17 Sectors Including Crypto Exchanges]
Foresight News reports, citing CoinPost, that Japan's Financial Services Agency (FSA) has released a draft revision of regulations such as the 'Comprehensive Supervisory Guidelines for Major Banks and Other Institutions.' The draft proposes standardizing the reporting format for incidents involving computer system failures or cybersecurity events to a universal format based on agreements among relevant ministries. This applies to regulatory guidelines across 17 sectors, including administrative guidelines for cryptocurrency exchange operators. The public comment period will end on September 7, 2026. After the revision, the report categories will be organized into three types: a universal format for DDoS attack incidents, a universal format for ransomware incidents, and a newly established 'universal format for other cyberattack-related incidents.' Previously, only DDoS attack and ransomware incidents could be reported using a universal format.
