According to a report by Hong Kong Wen Wei Po, the Commercial Crime Bureau of the Hong Kong Police Force, in collaboration with the Macau Judiciary Police, carried out a cross-border joint operation codenamed "Operation Junli" from August 1 to 3. The operation successfully dismantled a criminal syndicate that used virtual currency investments as a front for fraud. During the operation, Hong Kong police arrested 1 man and 5 women (aged 51 to 64) on charges of "conspiracy to defraud," including company directors, shareholders, company secretaries, and key promoters. Meanwhile, the Macau Judiciary Police arrested 2 women involved in the case. As of August 3, Hong Kong police had received 225 reports, with losses amounting to approximately HK$94 million, while Macau police received 9 reports, with losses totaling around MOP 3.6 million.
