[South Korean Retail Investors Accelerate Stock Market Exit, Trading Share Drops to Six-Month Low]
According to Jinshi reports, the South Korean exchange stated on Tuesday that as market volatility weakens investor sentiment, South Korean individual investors are rapidly exiting the stock market. Data shows that in July, individual investors accounted for approximately 31.2% to 31.5% of the trading volume in the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI), a significant drop from 48.1% in January. Within just six months, this proportion has decreased by about 16 to 17 percentage points. The South Korean exchange noted that even slight rebounds in the index now trigger sell-offs, with investors eager to recover their principal and exit, accelerating the outflow of funds from the domestic market. Since June, individual investors are no longer the primary force in market trading. In July, foreign investors accounted for approximately 38% to 39% of KOSPI trading volume, significantly surpassing retail investors.
