Recently, the U.S. stock market has got a lot of people saying it’s historically rare. But if you’re familiar with the patterns of market corrections over the past 20 years, you wouldn’t say that. This time, the scale of the adjustment—whether for the index or individual stocks—is actually far smaller than during last year’s tariff war. Back then, even NVIDIA got slashed in half, not to mention March 2020 or 2022. At the end of February last year, I did a breakdown of the patterns of U.S. stock market corrections over the past 20 years. Adding in the four corrections over the past year—November 2025, February to early April 2026, the first two weeks of June 2026, and now July—it’s all there. You can check out that post for reference.
