[SK Hynix ADR surges over 5% pre-market; official confirmation that the South Korea-to-US ADR conversion channel is fully closed]
Reported by Jinse Finance, on July 23, SK Hynix (SKHY.US) surged over 5% pre-market, trading at $173.75. According to the news, the Korea Securities Depository stated that SK Hynix has set the upper limit for converting its shares listed in South Korea into American Depositary Receipts (ADR) traded in the US at 2.5% of its total share capital. The CEO of the Korea Securities Depository revealed that the $26.5 billion worth of ADRs issued by SK Hynix on July 10 have already exhausted the issuance limit. This means that unless existing ADR holders first convert their ADRs traded in the US back into South Korean shares to free up issuance capacity, investors will not be able to convert Seoul-listed shares into ADRs.
