[ByteDance to Complete Next-Generation In-House CPU Design as Early as Early Next Year, Targeting Mass Production and Large-Scale Deployment in the Second Half of Next Year]
BlockBeats News, June 29: According to a report by the *South China Morning Post*, three informed sources revealed that ByteDance plans to complete the design of its next-generation in-house CPU by early next year at the latest, with the goal of achieving mass production and large-scale deployment in the second half of 2027 to support its rapidly expanding artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives.
One of the sources stated that an early version of the in-house CPU has been in internal use within the company since the end of last year. However, another source mentioned that due to urgent demand, the tape-out timeline for the new generation CPU might be moved up.
For ByteDance, this CPU is part of its strategy to build a proprietary chip product portfolio and integrate more in-house hardware into its AI infrastructure. Two sources disclosed that to accelerate development and secure wafer fab capacity, ByteDance is collaborating with Qualcomm, a U.S. chipmaker actively expanding its AI data center business. By partnering with Qualcomm, which operates under a fabless model and outsources manufacturing to foundries like TSMC, ByteDance aims to address the highly constrained supply chain for advanced chips.
