The Fed is doing a light QE right now, basically creating (digitally) $120 billion per year to purchase US govt debt. Why? They claim the banking system needs “reserves” which is a lie. The Fed is doing it because there are not enough market buyers for govt debt. The Fed is trying to keep rates from increasing. The Fed will increase the amount to whatever is needed to keep rates from rising much above current levels.(Wall Street Mav)
