Stayed up pretty late last night. Before bed, I saw the news about Pezheshkian resigning and decided to add more positions in crude oil. Felt a bit off about it, but I was too tired and just went to sleep.
Woke up to see a second piece of news denying it, and the logic started to make a bit more sense.
This 'Iran International TV' is basically an opposition media outlet from Iran's perspective. It was established in London in 2017 and reportedly has financial backing from Saudi royal circles. Iran has already labeled its parent company as a terrorist organization. The channel doesn’t have any on-ground reporters in Iran and mainly relies on informants for its stories. It has a history of fabricating news, recycling old footage, and amplifying opposition narratives without verification. Any major political scoop from such a source should be taken with a huge grain of salt.
The fact that Pezheshkian represents a civilian, pro-diplomacy government with no real power isn’t exactly breaking news. After rounds of assassinations by the U.S. and Israel, it’s already tough for Iran to have any true surrender faction left—whether surrendering for personal gain or to give the country more options. But it’s definitely not for someone willing to sacrifice their life and political ambitions.
So, it’s not surprising this news was denied. That said, there are two sides to this. On the off chance this news is true, it would mean the pro-war faction within Iran is gaining more power, increasing the risk of conflict. If it’s fake, it shows that external forces trying to destabilize Iran are still active, which also raises the risk of war. But both scenarios are likely to play out over a longer timeline, so they probably won’t cause immediate price spikes. For now, the trading logic remains to buy on dips. I made a small profit on this position, but I’m planning to close it for now.
