This would mark the first time in over 150 years that a living person’s image appears on U.S. currency. Last year, the U.S. Treasury Department repeatedly urged staff at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to prepare a prototype design for this bill. They hope to release this commemorative note on July 4th, the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.
